Our Facility, Equipment and Available Services

Palmetto Clinical Research (PCR) is a multi-therapeutic clinical research company that has been conducting clinical trials in Charleston and Summerville, SC for almost 30 years. Dr. Colby Grossman and Dr. D. Eric Bolster founded PCR in 1992 through their private Internal Medicine practice. They joined Palmetto Primary and Specialty Care Physicians in 2009. This successful merger with the large multi-specialty group allowed PCR to increase its breadth and patient database to over 300,000 patients. PPCP includes physicians from many specialties including: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology and Radiology. PCR also maintains close relationships with numerous primary care, urgent care and area specialists (Cardiology, OB/GYN, Pulmonology) who have been directly involved as sub-investigators. All PCR staff members are GCP trained and compliant with SOPs and HIPPA and sponsor specific requirements. PCR has also completed over 200 clinical trials and our work has been presented at national conferences and published in journals including JAMA and NEJM. In 2016, Palmetto Clinical Research was the recipient of INC Research's Clinical Research Site Award for outstanding quality trial management at the site. PCR is also a member of the Society of Clinical Research Sites.

Palmetto Primary Care Physicians has a database with over 300,000 patients. Coordinators and recruiters are able to identify potential volunteers based on past medical history, medications, age, sex or any other specific parameter. Our team also creates marketing and advertising strategies prior to enrollment. Advertising efforts include, but are not limited to, magazine and bus advertisements, emails, radio commercials, direct mail, brochures and flyers. We also participate and focus on outside advertising. Our recruiters visit local physician offices in an attempt to educate and spread awareness about clinical research and volunteer opportunities. We hold a biweekly meeting in which investigators, coordinators, and recruiters come together to discuss actively enrolling trials. This is a creative environment for the team to come together and offer advice and ideas regarding new ways to identify volunteers.
